Nicolas, 38 ans, reçoit un e-mail l'informant d'un gain de 815.960 euro à la Euromillones Sweepstake Lottery. Pour réclamer son gain, il doit simplement remplir un formulaire en indiquant son numéro de compte bancaire et l'adresser à un certain Manuel C. Garcia, prétendument agent de la banque espagnole Estrella Seguros. Curieux de nature, Nicolas téléphone en Espagne. Son correspondant lui répète mot pour mot le contenu du mail. Il précise qu'un versement préalable est nécessaire pour les frais.
Sophie, 34 ans, employée de banque reçoit un e-mail de la Megafortune Lottery International qui lui annonce qu'elle a gagné 500 000 dollars. Elle doit aussitôt prendre contact avec Philip Gere, agent de la Mecury Trust. Pour cela, elle dispose d'un numéro de téléphone aux Pays-Bas et d'une adresse de courrier électronique. Toutefois, les frais de dossier s'élèvent à 750 euros. Ils doivent être payés avant l'envoi du gain. Mais Sophie n'est pas naïve et prétexte qu'elle est pauvre pour demander que les frais de transfert soient prélevés sur le gain. Autre possibilité: ne facturer les services qu'après réception de la somme gagnée.
Depuis cette proposition, Sophie attend des nouvelles...
